Saturday 8th May & Sunday 9th & 16th May

Saturday the 8th was the first day of The 2004 Lighthouse Races and this year we had an all female crew competing.  The Suzis were on duty in the OOD Box.

The first race, one lap, was to the lighthouse, leaving it to starboard, and back round L, to starboard and through the line.

The second race was over a shorter course round the racing buoys because it would have been difficult for all the boats to make against the outgoing tide.

Sunday - second day

Another glorious day at Glasson, sunshine, fair winds and ten boats racing!

First race- leave the lighthouse to starboard, 14 to starboard, B to port, G to starboard, L to starboard (or somehting like that) - one lap

Second race - three laps round the racing bouys

Sunday - third day

After a half hour delayed start, due to lack of wind, eight boats made a clean start for the lighthouse race. They were testing conditions, but fortunately there was just about enough wind to get there and back, although the race lasted not far short of two hours.

The Patrol Boat went with the fleet to the light, just in case a tow may have been needed.

The course was C to port, lighthouse to starboard, 14 to starboard, B to port, G to starboard, and L to starboard and finish.

The racing was close, Nick and crew, Robert Holmes, sailed an excellent race to win, followed by Mark in the Laser, and third Bill and Richard in the Osprey.

There wasn't enough time for a second race so three out of the five counted (55%).

Overall winners of the Large Trophy were Steve and Peter Jones - Fireball seen below leaving the field behind
